Lantern Parade During Artista Vista

April 19, 2016

Lantern Parade

Where: Assemble at the railroad tunnel at Lady and Lincoln Street in the Vista
What: Lantern Parade group performance during Artista Vista
What else: Lanterns will be available
What more: Bring drums, horns, tambourines, flutes, whistles and other noise makers to create a sound track as you participate in the parade

Parade Route:
— Lincoln to Gervais, crossing Gervais and on to Senate
— Left on Senate, then left on Park, then left on Gervais
— Crossing Lincoln, then right on Gadsden, right on Lady, left on Park
— Left on Taylor, and left again into the railroad tunnel for the homestretch to the starting point at Lady and Lincoln

A long wall of lanterns by 701 CCA’s artist in residence Janke Klompmaker is part of 701 CCA’s current exhibition, Dadadesque, and you can get your hands on one of them during the Artista Vista lantern parade. Grab a lantern and join the parade as Klompmaker leads a group performance for and during Artista Vista. Also bring drums, horns, tambourines, flutes, whistles and other noise makers to help create the sound track as the parade makes it way through the Vista. Starting at the railroad tunnel at Lady and Lincoln, the lanterns will light up as nighttime falls, and the parade will snake through the Vista and end at the point of departure, but not until the homestretch takes it all the way through the tunnel from Taylor to Lady.
