Hi COR fam! As our board develops new ways to connect with you, I’m thrilled to introduce “From The Chair.” This spot in each newsletter will allow COR’s current board chairperson an open space to share insights or thoughts on COR, Columbia, or happenings around us.
As we near the one-year mark since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, I’m sure that many of you, like me, are working to regain some level of normalcy safely. We are fortunate that so many local businesses and charitable organizations have persevered during this time and still allow us opportunities to enjoy life in Soda City safely.
Today, I offer you a few experiences in our City that I have comfortably and safely ventured out to do:
Last Saturday, I visited the newest exhibition at Columbia Museum of Art, The Imaginative Worlds of M. C. Escher. The CMA has done a commendable job in reopening to the public while ensuring its patrons’ safety. Each gallery has stated capacities, and staff and volunteers are in every space to ensure physical distancing.
I tried out the new brewery in West Columbia, Savage Craft Ale Works. What a great space! This spot is going to bring even more energy and excitement to State Street. There is seating with fire pits and heaters for those who prefer outdoor social settings.
I grabbed a delicious spicy bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich for brunch with a small group of friends at Market on Main. Everything on MOM’s brunch menu is superb. Still, I recommend trying the spicy bacon, egg and cheese, the croissant and simple salad combo, or the steak and eggs.
If you’re looking for any other recommendations, shoot me an email at [email protected]. I hope to see you all soon, virtually or in-person! Thank you for your involvement in COR and your passion for our region.
