What Do KMB Service Days Mean to COR Members?

May 17, 2016

KMB1As a Columbia, South Carolina native, I have had the opportunity to see our city grow and transform. Columbia has really come a long way. I have a sense of pride for this city and I enjoy giving back to the local community.  I am grateful to organizations like COR that provide an outlet to stay involved and make a difference in our wonderful city.  This past Saturday, May 14th, a group of COR volunteers participated in Keep the Midlands Beautiful, a COR sponsored cleanup for the Adopt-A-Highway Program. COR has adopted Gervais Street between Harden and Assembly, which is a main area of downtown Columbia and home to the COR office as well as many other businesses.  With the help of a number of COR volunteers, we were able to clean up this stretch of road in about an hour. The satisfaction and sense of accomplishment was instantaneous, as this area of downtown was visually beautified.

Keep the Midlands Beautiful occurs quarterly in February, May, August and November.KMB2 It is a great way to work as a team to keep our city looking great.  More volunteers are always welcome, so consider joining next time to help Keep the Midlands Beautiful with COR.  Also, keep in mind that this is just one of the ways to give back to the community through participation in COR, so be on the lookout for other opportunities in the future. Together with COR and other members of the community, we can find our place to make a difference.
