Time for Art is our annual signature event celebrating the Midlands arts, nonprofit, and business communities through a unique silent art auction and gala. Attendees bid with volunteer hours and take their winning piece home once service hours are completed. In 2017, 1,111 volunteer hours were bid which is a financial equivalent of $25,631. The gala is held in December and is attended by 200+ business and community leaders along our diverse membership base of talented professionals.
In 2015, COR began hosting four Keep The Midlands Beautiful service days, a Columbia based Adopt-a-Highway program. We believe it’s important to give back to the community that provides our organization and its members so much, so let’s help it maintain the infrastructure which provides us the ability to actually get out there and experience our city. By adopting one of the main thoroughfares (Gervais Street in between Harden and Assembly) in Columbia, COR is able to help beautify a very visible part of the city and let its citizens know what we’re all about.
COR promotes volunteer opportunities upon request of nonprofit organizations. Each opportunity is posted on COR’s blog, social channels, The Buzz, and in our monthly newsletter. In addition to promoting opportunities, COR partners with organizations to fulfill volunteer needs for events such as Special Olympics Summer Games at Fort Jackson, Keep The Midlands Beautiful, World Beer Festival and many, many more!
