Growing Home Southeast collaborates with and supports community agencies in South Carolina and Alabama to form a united effort to strengthen families and provide children, youth, and young adults with opportunities to develop skills in their homes and communities.
Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the President and CEO provides the strategic leadership and overall supervision for all aspects of Growing Home Southeast operations on both a day-to-day basis and strategic long term basis including: personnel, resource development, maintenance of buildings, grounds and equipment, fiscal management, volunteers, licensing, accreditation and public relations. The President and Chief Executive Officer will oversee the administration, growth and development of strong, effective agency programs while maximizing the agency’s resources to the greatest benefit for its clients. He/she will be responsible for the management of all technical, financial and personnel issues along with operational and administrative management, resource development, marketing, communications and strategic planning, assuring that all of the functions align with the mission, vision and strategic plans of Growing Home Southeast.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: The President and Chief Executive Officer will manage a staff of 100 in eight locations across South Carolina and Alabama. He/she supervises four direct reports: Chief Financial Officer; Chief Operating Officer, Director of New Market Development and Human Resource pyramind LLC 2 assistant
Strategic Planning: Establishes current and long term goals, objectives, plans and policies in collaboration with the Board of Directors. Works with the Board of Directors and leadership team to review, update and measure progress toward long range and near term goals and objectives.
Management Responsibilities: Delegates the authority necessary to manage the organization effectively. Leads a well-functioning leadership team, ensuring that operations are being executed in accordance with the organization’s policies while building and nurturing a collaborative environment. Plans, coordinates, and controls the daily operations of the organization through the organization’s managers. Establishes and maintains an effective system of communicating throughout the organization.
Financial Management: Oversees the adequacy and soundness of the organization’s financial structure and performance. Evaluates, negotiates, finalizes and executes a variety of legal documents and/or contracts. Plans and directs all investigations and negotiations pertaining to mergers, joint ventures, the acquisition of businesses, or the sale of major assets with approval of the Board of Directors.
Programmatic Responsibilities: Sets high standards of quality for the programs and recommends new programs and the modification or discontinuance of current programs. Reviews quality and programming results of the organization, compares them to established objectives, and takes steps to ensure that appropriate measures are enacted to correct unsatisfactory results.
Board Relations: Provides adequate information to enable the Board to have informed discussions, raise issues and make responsible decisions. Keeps Board members informed of and involved in all aspects of the organization through a variety of formal and informal meetings with pyramind LLC 3 individuals, committees, and full board meetings scheduled on a regular basis; plus other meetings or written correspondence as required. Attends or is represented by a designee at all meetings of the Board of Directors or operational committee meetings with the possible exception of executive sessions to review the executive’s performance and determine compensation.
External Relationships: Provides oversight of and participates directly in meeting fundraising objectives through fundraising activities, including building and maintaining relationships with primary donors and organizing, promoting and participating in major events. Represents the organization before major funders, stakeholders, government officials, community leaders and the general public. Establishes relationships with community leadership in government agencies, corporate, public and non-profit organizations. Represents Growing Home Southeast in a variety of public forums including media presentations, public speaking to individuals and groups, and hosting of groups and individuals on our grounds. Oversees and participates in legislative advocacy for the organization and clients. Seeks and responds to public relations opportunities that will assist in building public awareness. Creates innovative partnerships with businesses or other institutions that contribute to the agency’s resources.
PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS: A demonstrated strategic and energetic leader with an entrepreneurial spirit, the President and Chief Executive Officer should be a proven administrator with the ability to motivate, inspire and instill confidence in others. He/she should possess a service orientation combined with a business acumen. The President and Chief Executive Officer must be an individual who perpetually exudes and communicates a genuine caring and enthusiasm for the clients the agency serves while leading an effective and efficient organization.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated track record of leadership and management of an organization of similar complexity. pyramind LLC 4 Proven ability to lead organizational, business development, and funding initiatives. Excellent public speaking and written communication skills. A working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the human services field. Knowledge of the current political, social and educational issues impacting human/social services; political awareness and savvy. EDUCATION: Advanced degree preferred in either the clinical/nonprofit administrative field and/or the business field.
